Starlab Neuroscience Data Scientist

Starlab, a private R&D company based in Barcelona (Spain) and Oxford (UK), is looking for an exceptional data scientist with a very hands-on attitude to join our neuroscience team. The successful candidate will work at the forefront of neuroscience research with a focus on real-world applications in close contact with our sister company Neuroelectrics, a world leader in wireless neurotechnology for monitoring and stimulation.

We believe we are driving a revolution in how we measure and modulate the activity of our electrical brains, which will have a massive impact on health, wellness, human computer interaction and society.

Some domains we are working on:

  • Consciousness
  • Closed-loop neurostimulation
  • Brain-to-brain communication
  • Biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases
  • Affective computing with applications in business and culture
  • Personalized treatments

What we are looking for:

  • Extensive and in-depth knowledge of machine learning technology and methods (including deep learning approaches)
  • Experience in signal processing, ideally physiological
  • Matlab & Python are our most common programming languages
  • Very hands-on approach and able to hit the ground running
  • A desire to see the results of your research have an impact in the realworld (this means getting out of the lab)
  • Ability to handle projects with a “multi-scale” approach, able to maintain ahigh- level view while paying attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Team player, our culture is very important to us

  • Entrepreneurial spirit
