Mateusz WILIŃSKI
PhD, Complex Systems
Mateusz Wiliński received MSc degrees in Mathematics and Physics, as well as a PhD in Physics, from the University of Warsaw. He subsequently held postdoctoral positions at Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy, and Los Alamos National Laboratory in the US, followed by a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship at Tampere University in Finland. He also gained industry experience as a quantitative researcher and data scientist. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw.
His research focuses on statistical-mechanics approaches to learning and inference, particularly for dynamical processes on complex networks. More broadly, he is interested in data-driven modeling of complex systems, with applications ranging from epidemic spreading to financial markets and socioeconomic systems. In parallel, he is developing a new research direction at the intersection of machine learning and neuroscience, particularly focusing on modeling brain dynamics using EEG data.
